Abstract
Objectives: This study measures the anxiety of computer use among 250 nurses serving at a university hospital in Kwangju City before the introduction of the prescription delivery system. It examines the factors related to it and the descriptive research was done in order to make nurses play a central role in the development of a hospital computerization system by making them accept tile necessity of education and experience and having a positive attitude.

Methods: A questionnaire for data collection was used. The period of survey was 12 days from Jun. 16 to 28, 2001, 224 collected responses from 250 questionnaires are used for data analysis. Research tools developed by Chang(1984) and used by Baek(1992) are used to measure anxiety of computer use and the results mean that the higher the score was, the higher the anxiety was.

Conclusion: The respondents showed anxiety above average with scores raging from 52 to 100, and with the average of 71.26. The factors of computer anxiety were ¡¸Rejection¡¹¡¸Self-confidence¡¹¡¸Expectation¡¹¡¸Exciting¡¹ and the total explanation variation was 62.3%. The degree of computer anxiety, based on the general characteristics of subjects ¡¯schooling¡¯ (F=2.59, p=.027), ¡¯working dept¡¯ (F=2.54, p=.007), ¡¯com use¡¯ (F=3.99, p=.000), ¡¯com education¡¯ (F=3.85, p=.016), ¡¯com use period¡¯ (F=5.34, p=.000) , ¡¯com use frequency¡¯ (F=2.11, p=.040), ¡¯wish for computerization¡¯ (F=2.05, p=.046) , showed a statistically meaningful difference in anxiety about the computer. The degree of computer anxiety, based on the general characteristics of subjects showed these statistically meaningful differences (1) ¡¯Exciting¡¯ (F=2.735, p=.044) of age (2) ¡¯Expectation¡¯ (F=2.802, p=.041) of position (3) ¡¯Rejection¡¯ (F=-2.161, p=.032) and ¡¯Self-confidence¡¯ (F=2.178, p=.030) of com use (4) ¡¯Self-confidence¡¯ (F=2.904, p=.004) of com education (5)¡¯Rejection¡¯(F=4.021, p=.000) ,¡¯Self-confidence¡¯(F=4.711, p=.000) and ¡¯Expectation¡¯ (F=3.496, p=.016) of com use period (6) ¡¯Rejection¡¯ (F=4.033, p=.019) and ¡¯Self-confidence¡¯ (F=6.347, p=.002) of com use frequency (7) ¡¯Rejection¡¯ (F=4.537, p=.001) and ¡¯Self-confidence¡¯ (F=4.898, p=.000) of wish for computerization.
